Athematic Infinitive Progressive Active

Introduction

Athematic verbs use /ναι to make the progressive active infinitive:

          θι/θέ/ναι > τιθέναι

BASEprogressive aspect marker(s)/ναι

The only verbs that belong to this category are /μι verbs.

Intermediate

Greek has two active infinitive markers: /εν and /αι. The marker used for athematic verbs in the progressive, /ναι, is a combination of the two, using the zero-grade form of /εν (so simply /ν): /ν/αι.
